The Family
Over the years, Dr. Pimm has focused on training Ph.D. and Master’s students to the highest levels of scientific quality and integrity. Every year, Dr. Pimm celebrates their accomplishments with an informal gathering of past and present students, colleagues and others. This community comprises “The Family” whose collective contributions to conservation biology and science communication continue to impact cutting-edge research and the public understanding of science.
Dr. Pimm’s students have become accomplished scientists and authors in their own right. Two have written their own books.
Dr. Clinton Jenkins, now at the Department of Biology, University of Maryland, co-authored Applying Nature’s Design. His book reviews conservation methods that make use of wildlife corridors. Sheril Kirshenbaum is co-author of Unscientific America, which takes a look at how science illiteracy will impact the US’s competitiveness.
