Paris Hilton: Seriously Green?

Paris Hilton is toying with philanthropy (“Ms. Hilton Gets Serious. Please Stop Laughing.” Newsweek). She has even begun to dabble in environmental causes. To prove her point, she is now driving a hybrid vehicle (A Ford Escape). Is this something the environmental community should embrace, or does her lifestyle bring more baggage than the environmental community is prepared to handle?

    In a Nov. 13 story, The Associated Press incorrectly reported that Paris Hilton was praised by conservationists for highlighting the problem of binge-drinking elephants in northeastern India. Lori Berk, a publicist for Hilton, said she never made any comments about helping drunken elephants in India.
